50th Anniversary Campaign: To The Uttermost Bounds of the Earth

50th-anniversary-cover

“For 50 years, ORU has drawn future leaders from all over the world. In the next 50 years, ORU will build a truly global network of world-class, whole-person education opportunities – in Tulsa, on every inhabited continent, and to the uttermost bounds of the Earth.” ~ Dr. William M. Wilson, ORU President

EXPANDING ORU’S REACH – GLOBALLY

We believe God has positioned Oral Roberts University at this time in history with unparalleled opportunities to advance the cause of Christ globally as never before. ORU is answering the call with our 50th Anniversary Campaign: To the Uttermost Bounds of the Earth. We are raising a “stretch” goal of $55 million to fund immediate academic growth and expansion and an additional $20 million for the future through deferred, estate, and planned gifts to the endowment.

Consider:  ORU has no long-term debt. The recent fiscal year closed in the black without utilizing any lines of credit. More than $100 million has been infused into campus revitalization since 2008. Enrollment has risen every year since 2009. The time to expand is now. Click here to make a gift that will help expand ORU’s global reach.

This campaign is composed of four components:

  1. Globalization of Whole Person Education
  2. Enhanced Physical Campus
  3. Quest Whole Person Scholarships
  4. Strengthened University Endowment

GLOBALIZATION OF WHOLE PERSON EDUCATION

Over the last 50 years, students from 115 countries have traveled to Tulsa, OK to experience what ORU has to offer. In the next era, we want to provide that same opportunity on every inhabited continent, making a whole-person education accessible to millions around the globe.

  • Online expansion and aggressive growth
  • Collaborative Access Education
  • Technology investment
  • Globalization of ORU and Continental Centers

ENHANCED PHYSICAL CAMPUS

Global Learning Center

The Global Learning Center opened on January 11, 2017—debt-free. It is a seamless hub to transmit innovation and mission through state-of-the-art technology. Classrooms are equipped with touch technology, interactive SMART Boards, and other tools to give professors visually advanced options as they teach a wide variety of subjects.

Classes and programs will be recorded and stored on file servers to be retrieved by students on their personal mobile devices or computers and by ORU satellite campuses worldwide. The center’s open architecture can adapt to changes in technology and learning styles, and also provide a venue for donor events and conferences, Golden Eagle Broadcasting content creation, and more. Watch this video to see the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

One of the most exciting features of the GLC is the Virtual and Augmented Reality Room. Students are enjoying a multidimensional experience that gives them the sense of being fully immersed in the environment they are learning about…and they have access to more than 500,000 learning objects, from partial to full simulations in every industry. To honor longtime ORU business professor Dr. George Gillen, we named this room for him.

Track and Field & Tennis

ORU’s new ONEOK Sports Complex, opening in the fall of 2017, is being built debt-free. It will house ORU’s first-ever track and field facility as well as a new Tennis Center that features state-of-the-art surfaces, fences, and lighting.

Apartment-Style HousingNew Dorm

A three-story, apartment-style residence will be constructed on campus to address the housing crunch and bring campus accommodations up to date. It will house 100 students, with separate wings for men and women. The furnished one- and two-bedroom apartments will each include a living room, kitchenette, and bath(s), high-speed Internet, and Wi-Fi. A prominent feature of the hall will be the upscale, three-story atrium. These apartments will set a new standard for Christian community living. Click here to help us add new campus housing.

QUEST WHOLE PERSON SCHOLARSHIPS

The Quest Whole Person Scholarship program recognizes students who have demonstrated their determination to pursue wholeness—not just intellectually, but spiritually, socially, and physically. More than 4,100 students have received Quest scholarships since 2009.

As ORU expands, training a multiethnic, multicultural, and multilingual student body will require a dramatic increase in Quest Scholarships for emerging student leaders around the world. Click here to give to the Quest Whole Person Scholarship program.

STRENGTHENED UNIVERSITY ENDOWMENT

Endowment sustains a university for the future and ensures agility in an era of rapid, ongoing change. Adding to our endowment portfolio will provide vitality, expansion, and improvement to the entire university over time. This task can be accomplished as supporters of ORU strategically include the university in their estate planning. Click here to make a gift to the University Endowment Fund.
